The Valued Parent | Help Your Toddler Sleep Through the Night
For toddlers ages 1+

Your toddler can fall asleep without you in the room.

You've rocked, sung, and tiptoed. You've tried every bedtime trick on Instagram. Nothing sticks because most sleep advice doesn't teach the one skill your toddler is missing: healthy separation. I'll show you how to build that skill, step by step, using the science of behaviour.

Teaches the "why," not just the "what"
Sound familiar?
Your toddler won't let you leave the room.
  • Bedtime takes 45+ minutes of lying next to them, holding hands, or sneaking out
  • The second you try to leave, the crying starts. Every single night.
  • Your toddler clings to you at bedtime and can't fall asleep unless you're right there
  • Night wakings mean you're back in their room at 2 a.m., starting the whole process again
  • You've started to believe this is just how your child is
There's a better way
Your toddler isn't "clingy." They haven't learned healthy separation yet.
Clinginess at bedtime is a behaviour pattern, not a personality trait. Your toddler cries when you leave because it works. It brings you back. That's not manipulation. It's learning. And the good news is that you can teach a new pattern: one where your toddler feels safe, confident, and able to fall asleep without you in the room.
  • Understand the specific behaviour pattern keeping your toddler dependent on your presence
  • Learn a step-by-step method to teach healthy separation at bedtime
  • Build skills you can reuse when sleep regresses after illness, travel, or disruptions
  • Replace guilt with understanding and confidence
Inside the course
How The Peaceful Bedtime Plan Works
A clear, structured process that moves you from confusion to confidence. No rigid scripts. Just behaviour science, translated into steps that fit your family.
1

Understand the Science

Learn why your toddler cries when you leave. Not guesses, but the actual behavioural science behind what's happening. Once you see the pattern, the solution becomes clear.

2

Practice During the Day

Build your toddler's separation tolerance through short, playful daytime practice sessions. Start with seconds. Build to minutes. Your child learns that being apart from you is safe.

3

Apply at Bedtime

Bring the skill to bedtime with a structured plan. You'll know exactly what to say, when to leave, and when to come back. Plus how to troubleshoot when things don't go as planned.

Meet Tatjana

I teach parents to understand their toddler's sleep, not just manage it.

I'm Tatjana Popovic, a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst and Registered Behaviour Analyst in Ontario with a Master's in Education. I've spent over 13 years working with children and families to build meaningful skills.

I created The Valued Parent because I saw too many exhausted parents following cookie-cutter sleep programs that didn't explain the "why." My approach is different. I teach you the behavioural science behind your toddler's sleep patterns so you can problem-solve with confidence, both now and in the future.

I'm also a parent. I've been exactly where you are. I know how hard it is to navigate sleep difficulties on your own. That's why I built this course.

Before you get started

The Peaceful Bedtime Plan is designed for toddlers ages 12 months and older. The course includes specific guidance for younger toddlers (12-24 months) and older toddlers/children (24 months+), with age-appropriate modifications for each.

No. This course teaches quiet-based visiting, which is a skill-building approach rooted in positive reinforcement. You're not leaving your toddler to figure it out on their own. You're teaching them the skill of healthy separation through short, gradual practice sessions where you always come back.

This course was designed specifically for clingy toddlers who struggle with separation at bedtime. The method starts with very small steps (as short as 1-3 seconds) and builds gradually. If your toddler can't handle you leaving the room right now, this course meets them exactly where they are.

Most sleep courses give you a protocol to follow. This course teaches you the behavioural science behind your toddler's sleep so you understand why each step works. That means you're not just following instructions. You're learning how to analyze and troubleshoot sleep challenges on your own.

Many parents see meaningful changes within 2 to 3 weeks of consistent implementation. Some see shifts in just a few days. The course walks you through every step so you know exactly what to expect and how to troubleshoot if things take longer.
